Congmen storm collectorate to protest rise in crime

A major ruckus broke out at the district collectorate office following protest by Congress leaders against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Some members also damaged a car of a collectorate official in the process. The congress leaders submitted a memorandum to collectorate officials seeking action in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

The memorandum cited instances such as the Ashok Jadeja scam, Surat gangrape case and the recent suicide by people tormented by moneylenders to show that crime was on the rise in the city. 

The memorandum also said that the police had failed to take any action to maintain law and order in the state. 

The party has blamed the state government for  the situation. The leaders included Rajkumar Gupta, Surendra Baxi, Gyassudin Sheikh and Pankaj Shah.

Senior collectorate officials said the memorandum will be sent to the concerned authorities. A senior collectorate official said, "The memorandum will be forwarded to the police commissionerate. A copy will also be forwarded to the state government."
