Cong leader sent to jail

Metropolitan magistrate RD Adhvaryu on Friday sentenced secretary of Ahmedabad City Congress to six months of imprisonment for threatening and intimidating a home guard five years ago.

According to case details, accused Arvind Valera arrived at Gita Mandir traffic signal on the night of September 7, 2004 and threatened home guard Vinodbhai Parmar and told him that his job was to check only licences. Valera intimidated Parmar and told him that he would have to pay extortion money to him for continuing with his job.
