The condition of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's mother, Gayetri Banerjee, who is on life support for a kidney-related ailment, deteriorated today with the octogenarian developing heart complications.

"Her condition has deteriorated today with additional complication in heart. Intake of dialysis is also irregular. Various health parameters are still fluctuating. She is on life support in the ICU," Director of Medical Education Sushanta Banerjee said.

Gayetri Banerjee, 81, was admitted to the state-run SSKM Hospital last Friday and underwent dialysis, he said.

A medical board formed under R Pande was monitoring her condition.

With the news of her mother's deteriorating health condition, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was in state secretariat Writers' Building today, immediately rushed to the hospital, accompanied by Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee and Union Minister of State for Health and Trinamool Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay.
