After the poll debacle, Advani and Modi’s individual blogs too seem to mirror the party’s defeat.

Stung by their ignominious defeat in the hustings, the saffron brigade leaders seems to have totally withdrawn themselves — be it from the actual national political arena or the virtual world. Thus, even as winners like junior external affairs minister, Shashi Tharoor, much like the US President Barack Obama, have become increasingly active on twitter; LK Advani and Narendra Modi have apparently snapped ties with their online followers.

The much-touted prime ministerial candidate and veteran BJP warhorse, LK Advani, along with BJP’s poster boy and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi had broken all precedents by becoming bloggers, thus forging a new vista in the traditionally conservative land. However, the rendezvous seemed to have ended with the debacle as the same blogs are now obsolete and none of the two leaders seem to have found time to make fresh entries in a long while.

While, the last entry on the now leader of opposition Advani’s blog was made on April 22, Modi’s blog was last visited on May 10.

However, party sources say that this is part of conscientious decision by both leaders to shun the limelight for a while. Not surprisingly, the politician duo was the most visible faces of BJP during the election campaign across India. “Therefore they had to bear the brunt of defeat more than any other party leaders,” said a BJP leader.

However, even though sparsely, both politicians managed to take some time out of their hectic electioneering schedules to write to the people, and as a result there are total nine entries on Advani’s blog, while Modi’s blog has six entries.

Talking to DNA, Prodyut Bora, who was heading the team that maintained Advani’s website and blog said that his efforts were limited to elections and that he was no longer involved in the process. “Please contact Advaniji’s office,” was his response to further queries in that direction.  Surprisingly, even though Modi’s blog has not been updated by the leader, those maintaining it have made it available in nine languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Marathi.

On the other hand, the official web pages of both the politicians continue to be maintained and updated with daily activity by the IT teams involved in the process.
