Civil society burns copies of Lokpal Bill in Chandigarh

Describing the new Lokpal Bill as absolutely weak and dangerous, a civil society group Friday staged protest by burning the copies of the draft legislation in Chandigarh.

Representatives of various organisations joined the protest led by the group 'Aawaaz', its representative Gaurav Goel said.

Goel said the new bill was dangerous as it would make the ombudsman a puppet in the hands of the government.
