In order to enhance security measures at the Delhi Metro, the CISF has now modified baggage checking and frisking of passengers at stations across the rapid transport network.

The CISF has placed the baggage scanners at the entry of the metal frame detectors as against the earlier practice of keeping them after these doors where security personnel frisked passengers upon arrival.

According to officials, the force has also enhanced its passenger profiling mechanism at all metro stations and has made new units of armed Quick Reaction Team (QRT) personnel for additional stations.

"The measures are being introduced keeping in mind the security dynamics of the Delhi metro network. This will enhance the security and also help the passengers to have a better sense of security," a senior CISF officer said.

However, there are no specific advisories or instructions for security related issues of the Delhi metro, the officer said.

At certain stations which are close to hospitals, the force is planning to equip its personnel with hand gloves and masks as a number of commuters at these stations are the ones who are undergoing medical treatments.

"These measures are just to enhance the overall hygiene and well being of both the commuters and the force personnel," the officials said.

The force has also increased the frequency of deployment of its plainclothes personnel to keep a check on suspicious elements in and around the Metro stations.

Besides Delhi, the Delhi Metro also covers parts of National Capital Region (NCR) regions of Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida.
