Unable to decide on whether or not to merge the outfit with the Congress, the Praja Rajyam Party today authorised its President K Chiranjeevi to take an "appropriate decision" when he meets Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi soon.

The PRP, however, decided to "work together" with the Congress to achieve its objective of social justice.

"Since the PRP does not have the strength of its own to realise the objective of social justice and uplift of downtrodden, we have resolved to join hands with the Congress," party Political Affairs Committee member C Ramachandraiah told newsmen after a meeting of party MLAs and senior leaders here this afternoon.

He, however, did not specify if working together with the Congress meant a merger.

"We have authorised our president to take an appropriate decision," Ramachandraiah said.
