If the unexpected sudden dip in temperature has got you worried, then here is some more chilling news. According to the met department, the dip in temperature is likely to continue for the next two days.

The cold wave experienced by the city, which finally forced Amdavadis to use sweaters and wind cheaters even during the afternoon, was a result of the passing off of the western disturbances.

"A dip in temperature is usually expected after the western disturbances passes. The northerly winds become dry and therefore the temperature plunges by two to three degrees," said Kamaljit Ray, director IMD, Gujarat.

Ray said the dip in temperature is likely to continue for the next two days. Met department said the maximum temperature has also gone down 2 to 3 degrees below normal.

Ray said Sunday registered the lowest temperature of this season at 7 degree celsius.

Meanwhile, citizens too are complaining about the cold. "For the last two to three days, there has been a sudden fall in temperature. I have to go out to work in the morning and it is very chilly," said Shabnam Singh, a teacher with A-One school.

Another teacher whom DNA contacted said that given the drop in temperature, schools that have morning shift should start their schedule at least half-an-hour late to let children and teachers escape the bitter cold.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature for Ahmedabad on Monday was 9.7 degree celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at 25 degree celsius.
