Child killed in firing range accident, another injured in Assam

A 14-year old boy was killed and another seriously injured when a grenade accidentally exploded in the firing range of Assam Police's First Commando Battalion in Kamrup district today.

The two boys had gone to collect the spent shells at Mandakata firing range when a grenade thrown accidentally exploded killing one child on the spot and critically injuring the other, official sources said.

The killed has been identified as Barua K Momin and the injured as 12-year old Marcos Marak.

Marak was rushed to Guwahati Medical College Hospital and an inquiry has been ordered into the incident, the sources added.
