Cheating cases pending against RTO inspector

Hanif Mohammad Beg Mirza, mastermind of the land fraud case at Atodara village in Olpad taluka of Surat, has a tainted past with many police cases registered against him.

This was disclosed by cops who have initiated a search for the accused and his two brothers - Javed Mirza and GA Mirza. However, the hunt is yet to yield results.

Hanif Mohammad was posted as chief RTO inspector at Vadodara. He was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs20,000 at Bhilad check-post in Valsad district in 1993. A case was filed against him with regard to this case.

Again, on March 12, 2010, Zubeida Bibi Khan, a resident of Rander registered a case against Hanif Mohammad for allegedly taking possession of her land through fraudulent means.

In her complaint, she told police that Hanif Mohammad stormed into her house and forcibly took her signatures on land papers. The case is still pending in the court.

Sources at Atodara village said that Hanif Mohammad had also cheated another person in the village and took away land transferred under his name by making fake ownership papers.

Sources added that original owner of the four-acre agricultural land is going to register complaint with Olpad police within
2-3 days.

Police sources said that a team has been sent to Vadodara and other areas to gather more information about the absconding trio and nab the accused.
