Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today met prime minister Manmohan Singh pushing for early steps by the Centre for formation of a separate Telangana state.
Sources said the prime minister impressed upon Rao the need for maintaining peace and normalcy with other regions of Andhra Pradesh — coastal Andhra and Rayalseema — before the Centre could think of next steps.

The TRS chief is said to be opposed to constitution of any mechanism to hold deliberations on Telangana as is being speculated.
Rao did not speak to reporters after meeting Singh – his first after the Centre initiated the process of talks with recognised political parties on the Telangana issue.
Rao, who is expected to leave for Hyderabad tomorrow, will brief the members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of political parties on Tuesday.
On January 6, he had also met Chidambaram on the Telangana issue and described it as "satisfactory".
Rao, who is spearheading the movement for the separate state, had also described the all-party meeting convened here on January 5 as "a pleasant and satisfactory meeting." The meeting had however ended in a stalemate.
The all-party meeting was attended by eight registered political parties in Andhra Pradesh – Congress, Telugu Desam Party, TRS, Praja Rajyam, CPI(M), CPI, Bharatiya Janata Party and MIM.
