This student of Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (Cept) has managed to strike a balance between her passion - photography - and a good career opportunity. Prachi Aswani, a student of sustainable environment and climate change, has started Ahmedabad Photography Club, an online forum for amateur photographers in the city.

The club is part of a project where Aswani had to create a webpage or website on a topic different from her course at Cept. The two-month-old club already has over 140 members, thanks to its popularity on social networking websites.

As a part of club activity, members organise photo walks - visit to places of historical importance where they click pictures and share nuances of photography. "Members of the club get together every week to shoot pictures and discuss technicalities. This way we learn to get the right composition and light details for a picture," she says.

Aswani recently purchased a digital single lens reflex camera (SLR) from her savings. The amateur photographers have so far visited Sarkhej, Adalaj ni vav and Gandhi Ashram to brush up their skills.

Aswani was the lone photographer on her Sarkhej rendezvous.

"But today, all thanks to social networks, 11 of us, not known to each other earlier, got together for the Gandhi Ashram meet. I hope we can soon conduct an exhibition of our pictures," she adds.
