CPI General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy today asked the Centre to clarify its stand on the problems raised and "revelations" made by Army Chief Gen V K Singh.

Reddy, who was talking to newsmen here after being declared elected General Secretary by the national council of the party here, alleged Defence Minister AK Antony had failed to discharge his responsibility even after Gen Singh brought to his notice the offer for bribe.

"Antony should have taken a written statement from the Army chief on the offer for bribe by an ex-army official," he said adding CPI would raise the issue in Parliament.

Reddy alleged the Centre was not only a failure in discharge of its responsibility but was also 'totally corrupt'.

BJP was 'corrupt and communal', he charged adding the reins of the country should be with secular and democratic Left parties and CPI would continue its struggle for the purpose.
