Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today charged the Centre with misusing CBI against her in the disproportionate assets case.

Mayawati, while addressing party leaders and workers at a meeting here, said CBI takes cognisance of the Income Tax report in case of leaders like Samajwadi Party's Mulayam Singh Yadav and RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav but in her case the investigating agency is trying to "frame" her in the DA case, BSP sources said.

Her remarks came close on the heels of CBI telling the Supreme Court that there was "credible evidence" to go ahead with the prosecution of Mayawati in the DA case.

The chief minister cautioned BSP workers against any design or conspiracy by political opponents before the next assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2012 through tactics like sting operation and asked them to apprise the general public against any such move, the sources said.

The BSP president asked the party men to work for securing three-fourth majority for the party in 2012 assembly elections.

On the verdict of the Ayodhya title suits by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court later this month, Mayawati asked her party workers to keep away from any controversy and not issue statements on it.

Mayawati told party men that the main thrust should be on maintaining law and order for which the party leaders should remain in their respective constituencies and areas and inculcate a sense of security in the public, the sources added.

Meanwhile, senior police officials like director general of police Karamveer Singh and ADG (law and order) Brij Lal today toured diferent districts of Lucknow range and western UP respectively apparently to review the law and order, especially in view of the possibility of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court delivering the verdict on the title suit in Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Mosque dispute in Ayodhya.
