The Central Crime Station (CCS) — a wing of the city police — has taken up a probe into the death of an engineering graduate P Eshan Reddy, who allegedly committed suicide apparently for the cause of separate Telangana state.

Reddy's case has been transferred to the CCS, following orders from the city police commissioner, a senior police officer said today.

The charred body of Reddy, aged 22, was found near the library of Osmania University (OU) campus yesterday morning and police suspect that the youth might have burnt himself to death on Friday night itself.

"The OU Police had earlier registered a case of unnatural death following the incident. Now, the CCS will probe from all angles including tallying the hand-writing with that from the suicide note that was found beside Reddy's body," the officer said.

Ruling out a murder angle in the case, the officer said "it (Reddy's death) looks like a suicide," and added that further investigations will throw more light on the incident.

Reddy, who recently completed his B Tech from a city college, in a suicide note purportedly written by him, stated that he was sacrificing his life after his wish that all the 12 legislators who had earlier resigned demanding formation of Telangana state get re-elected and APCC president D Srinivas gets defeated in the recently concluded bypolls, was fulfilled.

BJP's Y Lakshminarayana, defeated Srinivas in the Nizamabad Urban constituency while Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders won the remaining 11 Assembly segments in Telangana region, the elections for which were held on July 27.

According to the suicide note Reddy also wanted "boycott" of nine Congress and TDP leaders from the region, though political leaders raised doubts on the contents of the suicide note and had demanded an inquiry into his suicide.

An autopsy was conducted on Reddy's body and honouring his last wish and following a direction from State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) the Telangana supporters later carried his body in a huge funeral procession from Osmania University campus to Gun Park (Telangana Martyr's memorial) near the Assembly here last evening.

Reddy's final rites were performed at his native place Basantpur village in Nyalkal mandal of Medak district today.
