Late Haren Pandya’s wife Jagruti Pandya has said that she will have to find the future course of action as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not seek reinvestigation of her husband’s murder case as demanded by her. Jagruti is demanding justice for her assassinated husband.

Jagruti has demanded re-probe of the case after Gujarat high court acquitted all the 12 accused three months back. The high court also criticised CBI’s investigation. In the latest development, the CBI filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court challenging Gujarat high court’s judgment. It has not demanded re-probe by reiterating that their chargesheet had been filed in the case.

Jagruti, who demanded reinvestigation by approaching the CBI in New Delhi, said: “I am neither shocked nor disappointed as no one will confess their fault and this also applies to the CBI.’” She further said, “I will think about the future course of action by discussing the development with my lawyer.”  The CBI has moved the Apex Court in Pandya’s murder case challenging Gujarat high court order which had criticised the central agency for a ‘botched-up’ and ‘blinkered’ probe while dropping the murder charges against the 12 accused on August 29. The CBI filed the SLP in the Apex Court on Friday last.

While absolving the 12 persons of the murder charges, the high court upheld the trial court’s decision to convict them for criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder and offences under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. Pandya, who was a minister of state for home in the BJP government  was shot dead on March 26, 2003, in Ahmedabad when he was out on a morning walk. According to CBI, Pandya was murdered to avenge the 2002 communal riots.
