The Central agency is yet to be given an office in Ahmedabad city specifically for its team investigating the Ishrat Jahan case. Till then, the team will function from the CBI offices in Gandhinagar, sources said.

"The team is expected to issue summons to officers suspected of playing a role in the fake encounter and will start recording their statements," a source said adding that arrests are
unlikely in the beginning.

"The team will start with recording of statements of the accused. Its emphasis will be on collecting further evidence," the source said.

"As some senior police officials are among the accused in the case, nothing will be done unless the agency gets enough evidence," the source added.
