A CBI team on Saturday submitted in the special CBI magistrate's court in Ahmedabad a copy of the FIR the agency had registered in Mumbai a day earlier in the Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case.
The CBI can now initiate the process of transferring the case from the Danta court in Banaskantha, to the special CBI court in Ahmedabad.

The FIR does not name any specific person as the accused in the case. However, it mentions policemen from Gujarat and Rajasthan and some others as the accused who would be investigated for suspected criminal conspiracy, wrongful confinement, murder, wrongful restraint, destruction of evidence and giving false information to shield an offender.

Sources said the CBI's next move after submitting the FIR in the special CBI court would be to initiate the process of transferring the case from the sessions court in Danta (Banaskantha) and get transfer of all the policemen already chargesheeted in the case by the state CID.

The sources, however, said that the CBI may book some senior IPS officials and politicians in the week beginning Sunday. The buzz is that the agency could also book some Gujarat police officials who were part of state CID team which had investigated the case earlier.

The focus of the investigation would be to find out how and who were involved in shifting Tulsi Prajapati from jail where was he confined before the encounter. The case involves several unanswered questions about events that led to the encounter in which Prajapati was killed.
