With the apex court directing the CBI to complete investigation in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case within six months, the agency on Friday sought 14 days police remand of accused VA Rathod and Narendra Amin.

The agency sought the remand in the CBI court of additional chief judicial magistrate VB Barot.  The CBI sleuths produced the two accused on a transfer warrant from Sarbarmati Jail and sought 14 days remand of the duo.

The CBI counsel in the remand application pleaded that based on the statements of several witnesses in the case, it has come to the agency's knowledge that NK Amin (suspended DySP) and VA Rathod (suspended PI, ATS) had played vital role in the encounter.
The remand application also states that the two accused had some vital information about the death of Kausar Bi including the place where she was burnt alive and later buried. The CBI counsel through the remand application pleaded that the investigating agency is yet to recover the body of Kausar Bi which the accused have buried and also the vehicle which was used for the crime.
Earlier, CBI counsel LD Tiwary moved an application seeking the custody of two police officers, who were arrested in the 2005 fake encounter case for further questioning.
Amin and Rathod opposed the CBI plea on the grounds that further custody of the duo was unwarranted as they have already been questioned by CID (crime).
The two accused also pleaded for ten days time to contact and hire their lawyers. However, the CBI counsel opposed the demand saying they have to complete the investigation within six months as per the Supreme Court's direction.
Judge, VB Barot posted the hearing on the application for May 12.
