In a major development, the CBI recovered three foreign-made, unlicensed revolvers from the residence of National Commission for Scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribes (NCSC) chairman and former union minister, Buta Singh’s residence in Delhi.

CBI sources said they searched the house late Friday evening and found a .38 bore, .32 bore and a third revolver. All three have been handed over to the Delhi Police.

The investigators also said that they have phone records of conversation between Ramrao Patil, the complainant, and Sarabjot Singh, Buta Singh’s son, who was arrested on Thursday for allegedly accepting Rs1 crore on behalf of the veteran politician. “We have studied the phone records of Buta Singh’s residence in Mumbai and Delhi and have found details of the calls made to the complainant,” said a senior official, adding that several calls were made to Patil from Singh’s residences. The officer added that some part of the conversation between Sarabjot and Anup Begi, the middleman, had also been recorded.

The CBI is likely to tighten its noose over Sarabjot, as in a related development, the agency has received information about two more cases wherein Sarabjot is believed to have allegedly taken money to settle disputes.
