Four persons, including two Army personnel, have been arrested by CBI in connection with fake recruitments in the Indian Railways. Acting on a tip off, a team of CBI officers from the agency's Jaipur branch intercepted two persons onboard the Jodhpur-Delhi Mandore Express on June four and recovered Rs six lakhs from their possession, a CBI spokesman said on Friday.

"The duo disclosed that the amount seized included a portion that was their own, while some was collected from candidates. They also said that this amount was to be delivered to a tout employed in the military for getting them selected as Ticket Collector in the Railways," the spokesman said in a release. The tout in connivance with some senior Railway officer in Delhi had asked them (the duo) to contact him on his mobile after reaching the national capital, the spokesman said.

CBI officers laid a trap and caught the tout, identified as Jai Shankar, while accepting Rs six lakh from the duo as bribe, he said. On questioning the tout, it revealed that he is posted with the 11 Rajputana Rifles of the Army, the spokesman said. All the three persons were arrested on June five. Later on, one more person, who is also employed in Indian Army as Craftsman in Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME), was arrested on June eight.

The two touts were sent to judicial custody till July one and the two others were to judicial custody till June 22. "It was also learnt that they were running a fake training institute at Kolkata for conducting classes and for organising fake medical check ups," the official said, adding a cash deposit of Rs18 lakhs was found in two bank accounts
of one of the touts in Delhi. Investigation so far has revealed that this racket has its link in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal, he added.
