Three foreign nationals, who had come to the city to share their technical know-how at the ongoing engineering exhibition ENGIMACH lost their cash and other valuables.

According to Vastrapur police, three foreigners including one Japanese and two Taiwanese nationals lost their valuables during the industrial exhibition held at University ground near helmet circle. Many Asian countries are participating in the exhibition.

Sayuna Dinenahim, a resident of Nagasaki in Japan told the police that some unidentified person stole his purse from stall no. 7 on Friday. Sayuna would stand near his company's stall at the exhibition to respond to his visitors' queries. Sayuna came to Ahmedabad one week back and has been staying at Ginger Hotel near Himalaya Mall.

Sayuna said, since visitors are coming in large numbers, so it became difficult for me to attend to all customers' queries. On Friday, someone stole my purse between 9:30 am and 5pm which had 2,000 Japanese Yen, 200 US dollars and a wedding ring worth Rs1.5 lakh. I had bought the ring few days ago for my marriage back home.

Similar is the story of other two Taiwanese nationals who also lost their valuables at the exhibition.

Sensui Susan, a 55-year-old Taiwanese national told the police that someone stole his bag on Friday between 2pm and 4 pm from stall no. 3. The bag contained his passport, 3 credit cards, 1 ATM card, 1 insurance card, 1 ID card, 6,000 Taiwan dollars, 500 US dollars, 1 Sony Ericsson phone, 1 Idea SIM card, a pen drive, and 5 Air tickets. Another Taiwanese national, on Friday, lost his bag which had 9,500 US Dollars in it from stall no. 14 and 15.

It is a shame for us, said the organiser of ENGIMACH. CMD of K&D Group, Kamlesh Gohil, said the foreign nationals have come to India for business but right now they are in trouble as now they have to contact their embassies in Delhi to get duplicate passports.

"In the past couple of days, three foreigners, including two Taiwanese and one Japanese had to file police complaints of their valuables being stolen. This has not happened earlier but from now onwards we have to be more cautious," said Gohil.
