A social activist today lodged a complaint case with a local court in Ranchi against Union home minister P Chidambaram in connection with his remarks on migrants, which have already been clarified by the minister.

Ranchi-based social activist Asish Kumar Singh filed the complaint case with the chief judicial magistrate court of Vijay Kumar accusing the home minister of promoting hatred on the ground of region, religion and language.

He lodged the complaint under IPC sections 153-A (promoting enmity between classes) and 505 (False statement, rumour with intent to cause mutiny or offence against public peace).

Soon after Chidambaram had on December 13 sought to blame migrants coming to Delhi for the increase in crime, he issued a clarification saying he did not refer to any state or region or language or race or religion and was conscious that every one who came to work in Delhi was, in a sense, a migrant, including himself.

Asish Kumar Singh had also earlier lodged complaint cases against AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and writer Arundhati Roy for their controversial statements.
