A speeding car jumped off SG Highway on Thursday and landed on the other side of it, covering a distance of almost 15 metres in the air.

On landing, the car driver was thrown out of the car as the door broke open. The driver, identified as Hitesh Patel, is an employee at Skoda service station and received serious head injuries after his head hit the road. He was rushed to a private hospital where he is reported to be in a critical condition.

According to eye witnesses, a white Skoda Octavia car (GJ 1 HS 1752) was coming from Iskon flyover towards Skoda service station in Makarba village at a very high speed. Around 12:30pm, when the car approached Toyota showroom, the driver suddenly lost control and rammed the car into the divider on his right side. Due to the high speed, the car jumped the divider. Patel was thrown out of the car when it hit the ground and the door flew open due to the impact. He was rushed to Sola civil hospital for treatment.

An autorickshaw, in an attempt to avoid the car, dashed into a wall. "Just like in movies, I saw the car flying in the air after breaking the railing of divider. It came crashing towards me from other side. To save myself, I drove my auto towards the left side of the road where my auto crashed on the divider wall." said Kanu Zala, the auto driver, who had a miraculous escape. But, his auto (GJ1 BZ 645) overturned and was heavily damaged. Zala also received minor injuries on his head.

Sarkhej police took Zala's complaint and booked a case of negligent driving against Patel.
