C'Wealth Games crime cases remain unsolved after 5 months: Delhi Police

Even after five months, the Delhi Police has failed to solve any of the seven cases filed by athletes during the Commonwealth Games which ranged from molestation to theft.

The Delhi Police has admitted in an RTI reply that seven cases were brought by Special Investigation Team and Crime Branch from Commonwealth Games police station and none of them have been solved.

"All seven cases are unsolved," the Delhi Police replied.

The cases mentioned by the Delhi Police include alleged molestation of an athlete in the Games village by some unknown persons, the reply stated.

The case has been registered under section 342/509 of the Indian Penal Code which relates to wrongful confinement and actions intended to insult the modesty of a woman for which punishment could be one year.

The police also failed to recover money lost by athletes or allegedly stolen during their stay at the posh Commonwealth Games village.

Six complaints were filed by athletes of different countries in which they had alleged that money was either stolen from their rooms or it had gone missing but police failed to solve any of these cases, police said in an RTI reply to activist Subhash Agrawal.
