The grand opening of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) and the thumbs-up it received from all and sundry could be the reason why chief minister Narendra Modi did not dwell on the subject for long while addressing an election rally in Sabarmati.

It should be noted that ever since the news of corruption in CWG preparations broke, Modi has been vitriolic in his attack on the same, often ridiculing the Congress for the "bad preparations".

But on Monday, the chief minister just made a mention of the CWG and moved on to other topics such as the injustice meted out to Gujarat by the Centre.

"The Congress is trying to dazzle the world but a few crackers cannot hide corruption," said Modi about the CWG.

"We have more fireworks in Ravandahan programmes," said Modi in an attempt to ridicule the grand CWG opening celebrations on Sunday night. He said the Congress is so shameless that it is not willing to inquire into the issue of corruption.

"Serious corruption charges have been levelled against many ministers at the Centre," he said. Apart from the few words on CWG, the saffron party's poster boy
focused on the injustice done to Gujarat. He accused the Centre of not giving its nod to building gates on Narmada dams.

He also slammed the Congress for not giving approval to GujCOC to combat terrorism. Moreover, he also termed the Congress administration as a failure and asked people to vote for the BJP.

Sabarmati area has a huge Jain population and so
Modi pointed out that the Centre provides subsidy on meat exports but taxes cotton exports.

]Modi countered the Congress's propaganda about the Centre's financial aid to the state for various infrastructure projects by asking them where they got the money from.
"Did they bring it as dowry?" asked Modi. He repeated his earlier remarks about tax paid by the state to the central government.
