While Mukesh Ambani may have gifted a plane to his wife, Neeta on her birthday, and Anil Ambani a yacht to Tina as her birthday gift; an Amdavadi man, Sawan Godiawala, director of a multi-national company, gifted a sports centre to Blind People's Association (BPA) on the occasion of his wife, Pinky's birthday.

The sports centre was launched on Wednesday by Pushpa Godiawala, mother-in-law of Pinky. Sawan said, "My wife is involved in social service. She visits slums to teach children. I don't think there can be any better surprise gift for her than this. It took two months for me to shop and get the centre fully equipped."

The centre is the first of its kind in Gujarat for the visually impaired. With 12-15 activities, the entire hall has been renovated and transformed into a beautiful sports centre. The children can play various indoor and outdoor sports.  The centre has indoor games like carrom, chess, snake and ladder, table tennis and cricket, javelin, skating and other sports as outdoor games for the visually impaired. "I felt that there was no sports centre for such children, so I thought to gift them one," added Sawan.

Pinky, who was pleasantly surprised with the gift, shared, "By this, he has set an example for others who work in the field of social service. Though we didn't have any personal party, I am happy that I celebrated my birthday with kids at BPA and our friends."

Taarakbhai Luhar, principal of the primary school, BPA, said, “Through this initiative, we want children to participate in state and
national level sports competitions.”
