Ajit Kumar Oberoi, executive director of Dina Institute of Hotel and Business Management, and its managing director, Indrajyot Kaur Oberoi, were arrested by the Chatuhshrungi police on Monday for allegedly cheating seven students. The students of the institute have already field seven different cases with the city police.

Presuming the course to be full time, the Shikshan Shulka Samiti (SSS) had asked the institute to charge a fee of Rs91,400 per year for the two-year diploma course. However, the institute allegedly charged Rs2.30 lakh from each of the students for two years.

However, the Oberoi couple on Monday moved a bail application before the court of judicial magistrate (first class), SB Deore, who granted bail on cash surety of Rs50,000 each per complaint and personal bond of Rs1 lakh each per complaint. A student of the post-graduate Diploma in Business Management, Dhiraj Kumar Singh (24), along with 43 other students pursuing the same course at the institute, had filed complaints against the Oberois, for allegedly cheating students by charging exorbitant fees for the academic period 2007-09.

While granting bail, the court directed the Oberois to remain present before the investigation officer every Tuesday and Friday till the charge-sheet is filed, and to surrender their passports and not to leave the district.

In the earlier 37 cases the couple were granted bail on solvent surety of Rs25,000 each for 37 complaints filed against them.
