Two persons were robbed of cash of Rs4.60 lakh in separate incidents of loot in Surat on Friday. In both incidents, modus operandi used by robbers was the same.

In the first incident, Ramesh Hirpara, a builder residing in Rudraksh Residency, Kapodara, was robbed of cash of Rs3 lakh. Hirpara had withdrawn the money from Surat Nagarik Bank and was on his way home in his car (GJ-5-CG-333) when he was intercepted by two people travelling on a motorcycle near Hirabaug Circle.

The duo accused Hirpara of having caused an accident, which resulted in heated words being exchanged with them. A large crowd gathered at the scene, even as an unknown person picked up the bag containing cash from Hirpara's car and disappeared. Hirpara realised that cash was stolen from his car only after the duo also cleverly vanished from the scene.

In another incident, textile weaver Ramesh Shah, a resident of Athwalines, was robbed of cash of Rs1.60 lakh near SMC Athwa zone office. Shah had withdrawn the money from a bank at Ghoddod Road for paying salary to his employees, and was on his way to his unit in Katargam.

Shah was intercepted by two people travelling on a motorcycle near the SMC office after claiming he had caused an accident. He came out of his car and clarified that he had not caused any accident. As Shah returned to his car after some minutes, he was shocked to find that the glass of his car was broken, and the bag with cash and bank papers, missing. He turned around to saw the two motorcyclists, but even they had disappeared.

Police have registered cases in both the cases, and are on the lookout for the miscreants.
