Fire at Don Bosco hostel in Arunachal Pradesh

At least 13 students died and 8 were injured in a fire at a school hostel today in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey district, police said.

"The fire broke out at 2:30 am in Holy Angel Don Bosco School hostel at Palin area in the district. About 56-60 students were present when the mishap occurred," DIG Tashi Lama told PTI, adding, "There has been a number of deaths, but the exact number is yet to be known."

The hostel was a bamboo structure and not a permanent building, he said. The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, the DIG said. The school is located in a remote area of the district,
bordering China, Lama said.
