The side wall of a canal connecting Mullathara Dam in this district breached due to heavy inflows, inundating nearby areas, following rains in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, officials said.
They said people living on the banks of Chittoor river and Mullahtra dam were being moved to safer places.
Top officials have rushed to the spot to ascertain the extent of the damage, officials said.
