Two class XI students ended up hitting as many as twelve vehicles in their attempt to escape an accident scene near Kameshwar Mahadev Temple in Naranpura.

The incident happened in the evening when the underage driver apparently lost control of the Honda City and hit another vehicle.

Senior police inspector, Gujarat University SJ Vaghasiya said the speeding car hit around six to seven vehicles and the police have registered a case of rash driving.

One of the students held in the incident also has another case of rash driving registered against him.

The speeding Honda City first hit a Cruise car and began losing control.

"Soon a crowd gathered and began pelting stones at the car. The youth tried to escape and in the process ended up hitting twelve vehicles including five cars. It then hit a divider and was thus forced to stop," said an eye witness to the incident.

The police arrested one Vimal (name changed) while his companion Chirag (name changed) managed to escape from the spot. Cops said Vimal was the one in the driving seat. Vimal later allegedly told the police that initially Chirag was driving the car when the first accident happened.

So Vimal took control of the car but ended up escalating matters. The police are hunting for Chirag.

Sources said the cops also recovered their school bags from the car. "They were either on their way to tuition class or returning from one," a police source said.
