Boy killed, girl missing in suspected honour killing in Uttar Pradesh

Anshu and Ajit had eloped two months ago but they returned home after they were given an assurance that their marriage would soon be solemnised.

In a suspected case of honour killing, a BBA student was killed allegedly by the family of a girl with whom he had eloped two months ago.

The body of Ajit Saini, who was in his early twenties, was found in New Mandi area here yesterday. His throat was found slit and legs cut off, police said.

His girlfriend Anshu Tomar, also in her early twenties, is missing. Police suspect that she has also been killed, though her body has not been found.

SP (city) Rajiv Malhotra told reporters here today that police have arrested the girl's father Narendra Tomar and brother Anuj on the basis of the complaint filed by the boy's family.
   
Anshu and Ajit had eloped two months ago but they returned home on April 19 after they were given an assurance that their marriage would soon be solemnised.

The body of the deceased boy has been sent for post-mortem.
   
In another case, local girl Seema, who had eloped and entered into wedlock with her lover Suresh against the wishes of her parents, sought police protection fearing threat to her life from her family.
 
Later, she was produced in court and sent to a government protection home.
