A bomb scare in the army cantonment area of Ambala today had the police on their toes after a passerby noticed some cardboard boxes covered with jute bags in a dustbin outside the Kharga canteen.
Senior superintendent of police, Ambala, Bharti Arora said the passerby noticed the boxes, raising suspicion that some explosive could be hidden inside them.
As the dustbin is placed on the roadside, an area which is accessible to the civilian population, the passerby alerted the canteen people, who in turn intimated the army authorities. The Army personnel then informed the police.
The police immediately swung into action and later found that there was no explosive material in the boxes.
