Congress today termed the bomb explosion in Allahabad in which a Uttar Pradesh minister was injured as a "sad" incident and said it reflected the kind of law and order situation in the BSP ruled state.

"It is a sad incident. It would be proper to comment on why it happened, who is behind it only after the probe. But if a minister has to face this, it reflects the kind of law and order situation which exists in the state," party spokesman Manish Tewari said.

Nand Gopal Gupta "Nandi", minister for institutional finance, stamp and judicial tax was injured along with two others in a bomb explosion just outside his residence in Allahabad.

The party also questioned the law and order situation in Karnataka after Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs wore helmets to
"protect themselves" in the Assembly.

"If elected MLAs are not safe and they have to wear helmets to protect themselves, it is a telling story on the law and order situation in the state," Tewari said to a question on the
development in the Assembly there.

Asked about the threat from the Jat community that they will cut flow of essential supplies to Delhi during the Commonwealth Games if reservation is not provided to them, Tewari said there was need for everybody to exercise caution.

"Reservation has been a contentious issue... The government is willing to examine it. There is need for everybody to exercise caution," the spokesman added.
