BJP worker killed allegedly by CPI-M activists

A tempo-driver KC Rajesh, 29, was hacked to death by a group of persons stated to be CPI-M workers who came in a vehicle while the victim was sitting in a jeep, the police said.

Tension prevailed in the Panoor area of the district today following the murder of a BJP worker allegedly by CPI-M activists at Kunnothprambu last night.

A tempo-driver KC Rajesh, 29, was hacked to death by a group of persons stated to be CPI-M workers who came in a vehicle while the victim was sitting in a jeep, the police said.

Rajesh, seriously injured in the attack, died at Kozhikode Medical College, police said. Politcal rivalry was stated to be reason for the crime. Rajesh was an accused in the case of murdering a CPI-M worker in September 2009.

Additional police force have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incidents. So far, there was no report of any violence, police said.

Meanwhile, dawn to dusk hartal was observed in Kuthuprambu assembly constituency in response to a call by BJP to proest against the murder of Rajesh.
