BJP views assets declared by Cabinet ministers with scepticism

The details of assets and liabilities of the ministers for the year 2008-09 were made public by the Prime Minister's Office after Central Information Commission's decision in this regard.

The BJP today said it was sceptical about the details of assets of certain Union ministers and said declaring such small amounts was bound to create doubts in the minds of people too.

BJP chief spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad was responding to questions by reporters when he was told that according to some media reports certain Union ministers had declared assets that were paltry sums.

"The disclosures seem strange and unbelievable. It creates ambiguity in the minds of people. The Union ministers should come clear on this," he said.

The details of assets and liabilities of the ministers for the year 2008-09 were made public by the Prime Minister's Office after Central Information Commission's decision in this regard.

Exercising his Right to Information, activist S C Agrawal had sought these details.

The PMO had on Thursday released 400 pages of complete details of assets declared by Union ministers.
