BJP to submit 10 crore signatures against price rise to president

BJP general secretary Vijay Goel alleged that though the UPA government promised to bring down prices within 100 days of assuming power, prices have only gone up consistently.

Keeping up the attack on the government on the price rise issue, BJP leaders will stage a march from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhawan on July 29 and submit 10 crore signatures to protest against its "failure" on this front.
 
"On July 29, our national leaders, office-holders, state unit presidents and others will march from the Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhawan and submit 10 crore signatures to president Pratibha Patil," BJP general secretary Vijay Goel said.

He alleged that though the UPA government promised to bring down prices within 100 days of assuming power, prices have only gone up consistently.
 
"Prices of vegetables and essential commodities are sky-rocketing. The recent increase in prices of petrol and diesel will have a cascading effect on prices of other commodities," Goel said.
 
BJP and other opposition parties had held a "Bharat Bandh" on July 5 to protest against the fuel price hike.
 
BJP president Nitin Gadkari has asked the party cadres to continue holding programmes against the government on price rise issue even after the signatures are submitted to the President.
 
"The government is clueless about the steps to be taken to control prices. It has now become a fence-sitter on the issue," Goel said.
