The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to question the Congress-led UPA government in the upcoming session of parliament starting from next week over a remark of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh that the BJP took a hostile stand in the last session because of action taken against former Gujarat minister Amit Shah.

The next session of the parliament is going to be held from February 21. A meeting of the executive parliamentary committee (EPC) of BJP is scheduled to be held at the residence of LK Advani on February 20, in which the parliamentarians of BJP will form their strategy to grill the Union government over the PM's remark.

"BJP feels that perhaps strict action has been taken against someone who is a minister in Gujarat. I don't want to talk in detail about this," said Dr Singh on Wednesday while interacting with editors of the electronic media.

He also indicated that BJP wanted the government to reverse its decision on the jailed minister who is widely believed to be a close aide of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

BJP leaders in Gujarat are fuming over the statement of Dr Singh and Gujarat BJP MPs are all set to raise the issue in the parliament.

"We are surprised by the childish statement issued by a man who is holding a post as important as the PM," said Harin Pathak, MP of Ahmedabad East.

"We are planning to raise the issue in the parliament and we would plan our strategy at the meeting of EPC which will be presided over by LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj," said Pathak, who is the sole member from Gujarat in the EPC.

Purushottam Rupala, BJP MP in the Rajya Sabha, said, "The issue of Amit Shah is completely different from A. Raja, former telecom minister who is arrested in the second generation mobile telephony spectrum allocation scam. Now we will not miss any opportunity to corner the Congress in parliament."
The session will start with the President addressing a joint session of both the Houses of Parliament.

The Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee will present the Union budget on February 28. The two-month long session is likely to become stormy over the issues of 2G scam, corruption and black money.
