Criticising the rise in petrol price, opposition BJP today hit out at the UPA government alleging that the step was taken to "realise all its expenses" incurred on recently held elections in the five states.

"The rise in prices of petroleum products every second month during last six years of Congress rule emphatically points to an unpious nexus between petrol mafias and ruling party's strategy formulators," BJP National vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

The common man will have to bear the burden of an unprecedented costly and difficult future being woven by the pillars of the UPA government, he said.

"The pillars of the UPA government have all their preparedness to suck the blood of the poverty-ridden masses and by hiking the fuel price it is going to realises all its expenses incurred on recent elections in five states with interests," the BJP stalwart said.

Naqvi said that BJP is going to hold his national executive meeting in the first week of June in Lucknow.

"The senior leaders of the party, including Advani, Gadkari and others as well will participate in the meeting to chalk out further strategies related to upcoming state assembly election particularly in Uttar Pradesh," he said.

However, when asked about UP's chief ministerial candidate, Naqvi said that Kalraj Mishra and many others are competent persons to hold the pivotal position and the decision might be taken in the executive meeting.
