Taking strong exception to the withdrawal of residential guard and personal security for its state chief, the BJP Tuesday asked the Omar Abdullah government to explain the rationale behind such a move.

"Omar government has withdrawn residential guard and personal security of BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas. We want to know from government the rationale behind such an order," state BJP chief spokesperson Jitendra Singh said in Jammu.

He said discrimination in providing adequate security to BJP leaders and office-bearers has been an issue for long, but with the sudden withdrawal of two out of three residential guards and one of the three PSOs for Manhas, it has become an issue of "self respect and honour" for the party.

Singh described as "absolutely outrageous" the state administration's refusal to provide security to the BJP's Kashmir provincial president Ali Mohd Mir who is facing threats to his life.
