Accusing then Congress government of being responsible for the killing of thousands of Sikhs during the 1984 riots, BJP and Akali Dal today organised a protest and candle march and demanded justice for the victims.

"Congress government is guilty of the murder of thousands of Sikhs. It is regrettable that today a Sikh is prime minister of India but he is unable to ensure justice to Sikhs. Not a single guilty person in the riots has been punished," leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said.

Addressing a gathering, he said that there has been a delay in ensuring justice to the victims even after 26 years of the carnage that took place in the aftermath of the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984.

"Due to delay in justice there is great anger among the Sikh community. Until the Sikhs get justice, the common man of India will continue to lose trust in Indian democracy," he said.
