Taunting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the induction of tainted former Uttar Pradesh minister Babu Singh Kushwaha, the Congress Friday said BJP veteran LK Advani should launch another yatra to educate its cadres on corruption, adding the party should appoint an internal Lokpal.

“Advani should start another yatra to educate partymen about corruption. His yatra of 2011 has been successful as the tree of corruption in its backyard is bearing fruits now,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters.

Taking a further dig at the BJP, Singhvi said the party should have an "internal Lokpal to screen and allow only corrupt people into the party fold".

“The list of corrupt leaders supported by the BJP is a long one and includes names like former party president Bangaru Laxman, former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Karnataka leaders Reddy brothers and many others,” said Singhvi.

The Congress also suggested an understanding between the BJP and the Bahujan Samaj Party as the former accepted a leader thrown out by the latter after keeping him in for five years.

Congress sources said hammering the BJP on the Kushwaha issue is likely to help it expose the "double standards" of the saffron party on its anti-corruption campaign during the assembly polls in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.
