BJP moves no-trust motion as Congress govt completes 11 years in power

On a day when the Congress government completed 11 years of rule in Delhi, opposition BJP today moved a no-confidence motion against it in the assembly, alleging "complete misrule", "massive corruption" and "total insenstivity" towards peoples' problems.

Moving the motion in the house, leader of the opposition VK Malhotra termed last one year's governance as "total misrule during which the government that severely burdened the common people by effecting hike in water tariff and bus fare, besides withdrawing power subsidy."

He alleged "massive corruption" in the public distribution system and in Delhi Jal Board, saying, "Ration mafia was controlling the PDS system, while tanker mafia is exploiting the common people by charging a very high rate for supply of water."

"The last one year has been extremely difficult for the people of Delhi as the Congress government became totally insensitive towards peoples' woes. They failed miserably on every front," he charged.

Malhotra said government was spending Rs15,000 crore for improving infrastructure ahead of the Commonwealth Games but no development work was taking place in rural areas.

Chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who will reply to the debate tomorrow, said outside the house, "BJP moved the motion out of political compulsion."
