Ananth Kumar expressed confidence that the BJP would win the seat by a thumping majority and retain it.

Ruling BJP in Karnataka on Tuesday decided to field its Yuva Morcha President Sunil Kumar for the March 18 by-election to Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha seat.
Announcing this, BJP national General Secretary and State Election Committee Secretary H N Anant Kumar told PTI that Sunil Kumar was a former MLA from Karkala constituency.

The by-poll has been necessitated after state Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda vacated the seat following his election to the assembly recently.
