BJP on Saturday asked the Centre to institute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the issues raised by Army Chief General V K Singh in his letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Talking to reporters here, party General Secretary HN Ananth Kumar said only JPC could bring out the truth into the remarks Gen Singh has made in the letters that were leaked last week.

In the letter, Gen Singh had asked the Prime Minsiter to pass suitable direction to enhance the Army's preparedness.

"The UPA is trying to cover up this episode. A JPC should be constituted to investigate this," he demanded.
