Upping the ante, BJP today demanded dismissal of Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit for diversion of nearly Rs680 crore meant for the welfare of SC/STs to Commonwealth Games projects by the Delhi government.

Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta described it as violation of guidelines of the central government and also demanded prosecution of all those involved in diversion of the funds.

The party's demand came a day after Government admitted in the Rajya Sabha that diversion of funds meant for the welfare of SC/STs to Commonwealth Games projects by the Delhi Government was "wrong" and efforts would be made to bring them back to the SC/ST Fund.

"In my view prima facie that using Rs678.91 crore out of Schedule Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) to contribute for CWG appears to be wrong," Union home minister P Chidambaram had said yesterday.

Gupta said the party will stage demonstration in 100 "Dalit colonies" on Monday to protest against the "anti-Dalit policies of the Congress government".

"The president should dismiss the chief minister for diverting crores of rupees earmarked for the welfare of Scheduled Castes to Commonwealth Games projects," Gupta told reporters here.

The matter was also raised by BJP councillors at a meeting of the Standing Committee of party-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

BJP councillors resorted to slogan-shouting against the chief minister on the issue of diversion of funds and the issuing of a notice to her by the Delhi Lokayukta on a complaint related to provisional regularisation certificates given to unauthorised colonies in the city. The MCD meeting had to be adjourned due to the ruckus.
