The Jammu and Kashmir (JK) BJP today demanded a judicial probe into the abduction and murder of a school boy here.

"Since Shalin Gupta's kidnapping and subsequent killing for ransom has come into a lot of controversy with the role of police and some political figures.

Shalin Gupta, a class V student and son of a businessman, was kidnapped allegedly by two unemployed youths on June 11 from Nai Basti area in Jammu.

His body was found next morning from Beli Charana area and the accused -- Davinder Singh and Gagandeep Singh were arrested in this connection.

The BJP leader said the kidnapping and killing of the boy raises a question mark on law and order machinery regarding protection and safety of citizens.

"We are shocked to know that the name of state Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation minister Raman Bhalla has been circulating in the media for influencing police to release the accused," Manhas said.

In the wake of allegation made by people that Divender Singh was first released on his direction and later re-arrested on minister for sports R S Chib's direction.

"We urge chief minister Omar Abdullah to ask him the minister to step down till the findings of the judicial probe," he added.
