Flaying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi, BJP president Nitin Gadkari today alleged both were equally responsible for second-generation (2G) mobile telephony spectrum and Commonwealth Games (CWG) scams.

"DMK ministers alone are not responsible for 2G scam. The prime minister and the Congress chief cannot escape the responsibility," he told a seminar, organised by BJP's Legal and legislative cell, in Lucknow.

The BJP president alleged the government was being blackmailed by its alliance partner.

"Similarly files relating to the Commonwealth Games were approved by the PM, his office, cabinet committees and sub-committees.

"Then, why it did not attract their attention that something was wrong?" he asked.

Gadkari accused the Union government of misusing CBI for vote bank politics.

Alleging appeasement of minorities by the government, he asked why Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was not yet hanged.

In a veiled attack on Congress leader Digvijay Singh, he said "after Osama bin Laden's death, a senior leader referred to him in respectful words as Ladenji. I don't know what's the intention behind."

On the external security scenario, Gadkari said "the situation on the border with China is a cause for concern. China has developed an airport and a highway in PoK."

Gadkari accused the Congress of painting the BJP as anti-SC/ST and anti-minorities.

He alleged wrong policies and bad governance of the Congress were the main reasons behind starvation, poverty, inflation and suicide by farmers.
