Holding "dogmatic" stand of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar responsible for the firing on farmers at Maval last week, BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar today said his party would raise the issue in the Parliament session.

"From the beginning, Ajit Pawar took a dogmatic stance to implement this project. He never listened to the farmers' story in this regard. So, he is equally responsible for the firing incident. If assembly session is over, we will put this issue in parliamentary session," BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters in Pune.

Three persons were killed and many others injured when Pune Rural Police opened fire on farmers agitating against a closed pipeline project that facilitates supply of water from Pavna dam to the industrial township of Pimpri Chinchwad in Maval last week.

Holding the minister and Pune Rural Police responsible for the firing incident, Javadekar sought immediate dismissal of the concerned police officers.

He stated that row over the pipeline project is not new in Maval.

Lamenting on the government's 'anti-farmer' policy, he said, "We will fight for the cause of protecting farmers' interests. We will file a petition in the National Human Rights Commission in few days in this regard".

Amid reports of Delhi police imposing conditions on social activist Anna Hazare's proposed fast in Delhi from August 16, Javadekar said how government can put conditions for any agitation?

"We will support those individuals, organisation which are fighting the right cause like corruption. We will support Anna Hazare for his agitation," added the spokesperson.
